Launched in 1989 by Clinton Bourke, former managing director of Wilson Bowden, we’ve grown strategically and organically, maintaining a strong, profitable foundation as we aim to become one of the region’s leading private land developers. Today Wheatcroft Land is run by Clinton’s daughter Catherine Haward, who’s vision, drive and long-standing partnerships are helping to take our business to the next level.

As an entrepreneurial development company, we specialise in identifying housing and commercial opportunities based on rigorous analysis and an understanding of the local area. We then use our professional expertise, sound financial knowledge and proactive approach to develop sites on a speculative basis or to meet end user requirements, working with commerical partners and investors.

Catherine Haward

I have been Managing Director of Wheatcroft Land since 2013.
One of the first things I did was to undertake a full company review and establish a new strategic vision and business objectives to ensure the company was well placed to respond to changing markets.

Day to day, I am responsible for:

 The ongoing management of the company and the identification, assessment and delivery of new development opportunities.  This includes undertaking rigorous evaluation of risks and constraints, analysis of the market and prevailing conditions, coordination and management of legal due diligence enquiries, negotiation with planning authorities and other stakeholders to secure planning consent, design development and appointment and management of the appropriate professional team. 

Outside work I have been doing a part time degree in Real Estate Management, graduating in 2019. My two teenagers also keep me busy with their various sporting and social commitments but when I do have some rare time to myself I try to keep fit, enjoy exploring the Leicestershire countryside from the saddle of my road bike and am learning to play golf.

Chris Wesley

  I started working for Wheatcroft Land in 2017 bringing over 20 years experience of working within the property and construction sector. I have previously worked as both Project Manager and Development Manager for companies including Kier Construction, Wilson Bowden Developments, Gleeds and Simons Developments where I was involved in the delivery of large and complex retail, mixed-use, logistics and residential schemes.

My role at Wheatcroft Land includes identifying new development opportunities and undertaking feasibility studies and rigorous analysis to establish the viability of potential developments. I then have responsibility for delivery with an emphasis on scheme design, planning, cost management, marketing and maintaining an overview of the technical and construction aspects to ensure satisfactory delivery.

 

When not at work (or being a taxi to my daughter) I enjoy road cycling, playing tennis, walking my Cocker Spaniel, Louis, and indulging in the odd glass of wine!
